Tatkal Ticket Booking:

New Rules Effective July 2025

Mandatory Aadhaar Authentication: Starting July 1, 2025, only users with Aadhaar authentication can book Tatkal tickets via the IRCTC website or app. OTP-based Aadhaar verification will be required for online bookings from July 15, 2025. This applies to both online and counter bookings to ensure genuine users get access.

Agent Booking Restrictions: No agent bookings are allowed in the first 30 minutes of Tatkal booking windows for both AC and non-AC classes, reducing misuse and prioritizing individual travelers.

Maximum Passengers per PNR: A maximum of four passengers can be booked per PNR for Tatkal tickets, ensuring fair distribution of available seats.

No Refunds on Confirmed Tickets: Confirmed Tatkal tickets are non-refundable upon cancellation, while waitlisted Tatkal tickets have deductions as per IRCTC rules.

Booking Timings Unchanged: Tatkal booking starts at 10:00 AM for AC classes and 11:00 AM for non-AC classes, one day before the train’s departure from its originating station.

Goal of Reforms: These changes aim to curb misuse, prevent fraudulent bookings, and make Tatkal tickets more accessible to genuine passengers.
